Land use management in settled areas of British Columbia is largely the
responsibility of local governments such as the Thompson Nicola and Cariboo
Regional Districts. Official Community Plans and Zoning Bylaws are the tools
frequently used in carrying out this responsibility. In some instances, the
provincial government and other agencies become involved in land use management
through the application of legislation dealing with land, health and
environmental issues.
The Thompson Nicola and Cariboo Regional Districts have been asked to consider
undertaking a land use planning exercise in the 70 Mile House/Green Lake/Watch
Lake area. Interest in such an exercise stems from a variety of issues facing
the area, including land development, water quality, and economic vitality.
In order to determine the community’s interest in additional land use planning, we would like you to respond to this survey. Determining if more planning is needed, and if so, how it will proceed, will be based in large part on this survey. It will also help identify whether issues need to be addressed by local government or provincial government agencies. The survey has been separated into four sections. The first two sections pertain to various matters within local and provincial government jurisdiction. The third section asks open-ended questions about important issues in the area. In the fourth section, we are looking for information about you. We would appreciate you filling out this survey and assure you that your anonymity is guaranteed. We would encourage you to fill this survey out on the internet if possible as it will save you on postage and will save us on processing time which means we can get results back to you quicker.
